Genetic algorithm for scheduling of parcel delivery by drones

In recent years, efficient logistics has become indispensable, and using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones is promising for considerably reducing the cost time required parcel delivery. This paper addresses a delivery scheduling problem. this problem, truck loaded with parcels leaves distribution center stops at some points on fixed route. At each point, take off deliver to customers. We define problem as finding assignment of customers both their takeoff points. Then, we propose genetic algorithm (GA) near-optimal solution in short time. proposed GA, represented sets assigned points, heuristic rule determines drones. The crossover operation enables offspring inherit customer sets. Experimental results show that GA can successfully find an optimal faster than integer programming solver almost all instances. addition, it significantly outperforms other GAs different crossover.
